Give your first session one objective
Start with the main quest in the settlement. It introduces combat and gives you a reason to visit new areas. The Veil combines horde fighting, equipment collection and a large labyrinth, so an aimless first trip can leave you far from town with an inventory you do not yet understand.
Pick one quest objective before you leave. Accept nearby side quests that overlap with it, then return when the objective is complete. A short successful loop teaches you an entrance, a retreat path and a useful place to gather supplies.
Before you leave town
- Read your equipped weapon. Identify its attacks and ability before choosing an upgrade.
- Review the quest. Keep the next requirement in mind instead of chasing every marker.
- Keep some silver. Blacksmith work and quest interactions can require payment.
- Plan a retreat. Remember the entrance you used and watch for campfires along your route.
Travel by day, prepare for night
Night brings more monster activity and sanity pressure. That can make it useful for a monster objective, but it also makes a new route harder to learn. Scout in daylight when possible. If you stay outside after dark, make your sanity and healing supplies part of the plan.
Quiet daytime areas do not necessarily mean a quest is broken. Check the objective and conditions before you start travelling farther into the maze.
Upgrade a weapon you actually use
Collect useful enemy drops and compare them before selling. Save gems until you understand whether you need one for a weapon enchant or a travel interaction. Keep a silver reserve so finding an upgrade does not leave you unable to use it.
The Lost Recipe Book chain is an early equipment detour with a filmed walkthrough. For class progression, choose a target first: Sky Sentinel and Marauder have very different alignment requirements.
Choose the next trip
- Still getting lost: use the route atlas and follow one landmark at a time.
- Running out of sanity: shorten the route and plan around recovery.
- Need a class: use the unlock planner before spending silver or alignment resources.
- Ready for a boss: check its location and conditions, then carry a ranged option and healing.
